E-Resilience & Risk Reduction

Disaster risk reduction is the concept and practice through systematic efforts, within the broad context of sustainable development, to limit or mitigate the adverse impacts of hazardous events, which risks cannot be eliminated by the risk prevention. This may involve reducing exposure to hazards, improving the management of the land and the environment, and the lessening vulnerability of people, the capital, assets and property. ICT could make available its potentials to help society, among others, to mainstream the contribution of ICT in various sectoral DRR strategies and plans, the use of ICT in disaster risks monitoring and reporting, incentivizing the compliance to standards, leveraging the ICT in the empowerment of localities and members of the society, and ensuring the active involvement of ICT actors in DRR multi-stakeholders partnership.
