Expert Group Consultations on the Establishment of the Central Asian Digital Solutions Centre for Sustainable Development (DSC SD)

Ms. Tiziana Bonapace, Director of IDD of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific in cooperation with Mr Askar Zhambakin, Vice Minister of Ministry of Digital Development and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan virtually co-hosted consultations with SPECA country experts on the above theme on 15th November 2021. ESCAP secretariat provided experts with a few documents on the assessment of current national policies, flagship initiatives and strategies, regulatory framework and institutional capacities on digital connectivity, infrastructure, and digital transformation and the draft Roadmap on DSC SD. Experts exchanged views and supported the draft Roadmap for the establishment of the DSC SD for Central Asia. The meeting outcomes were further presented at the SPECA Economic Forum and the Governing Council on 17-19 November 2021 in Tashkent. Specific recommendations from this meeting of experts contributed to the development of project proposals for the regional interventions. The Roadmap on the DSC SD will be further reviewed and reported at the Digital Almaty Forum in February 2022.
