Effective IXP strategies for the Asia-Pacific, A Comparative Case Study Report

Internet exchange points (IXPs) play a vital role in bringing better, faster, and more affordable Internet to people. Though IXPs have grown considerably in the last two decades in Asia-Pacific, that growth has been uneven. 

Internet Society in partnership with the Asia Pacific Internet Exchange Association (APIX) carry out a study to explore how different exchanges fit into their local environment to find best strategies and approaches they can employ to grow more efficiently.

According to ESCAP 55.6 per cent of the world`s fixed broadband subscriptions are concentrated in Asia and the Pacific, while the fixed broadband subscription rates of Europe and North America lie at 20.3 per cent and 13.1 per cent respectively However, the broadband development among ESCAP subregions and member countries is uneven.
