ITU Transmission Maps in support of AP-IS

Organized in Bangkok, Thailand in 21-22 May 2018, ITU Asia-Pacific Regional Development Forum (RDF-ASP 2018) on Information and Communication Technology (ICTs) for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provided a platform for high-level dialogue for ITU members in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Internet has become a fundamental part of daily life delivering huge economic and social benefits around the world. ICTs are the backbone of today’s digital economy and have the potential to fast forward progress on the attainment of the SDGs. Global Transmission networks are the lifeline behind the digital economy delivering broadband access virtually to every corner of the world. In support of the Asia-Pacific Information Superhighway (AP-IS), the ITU Interactive Transmission Maps is a platform that is taking stock of networks and initiatives at national, regional and global levels. Constantly being updated with data from all regions of the world, the Map shows in detail the location of fibers optical cable, microwave links, submarine cables, satellite earth stations, Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) as well as other key metrics in the ICT sector.
