Video of IOWave16 briefings in Padang and Pangandaran
Disaster management professionals, observers, facilitators and other stakeholders were briefed on the IOWave16 Tsunami Exercise in Padang and Pangandaran in Indonesia.
The exercise will simulate Indonesia, as well as other Indian Ocean nations, being put in a tsunami warning situation that requires the national tsunami warning centre and the national and/or local disaster management offices to response in accordance to their standard operating procedures. Coastal communities will be involved to a greater extent than in previous tsunami exercises such as IOWave14, in order to test standard operating procedures, communication links at all levels of the warning chain as well as community response by evacuation to the designated safe place.
The latest developments on IOWave16 Indonesia are posted on IOWave16.org and the Tsunami Platform.
