Indonesia Investment Promotion on Digital Economy

In conjunction with 70th Anniversary of the establishment of Indonesia-Thailand Diplomatic Relations in 2020, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Bangkok will organize a webinar on “Indonesia Investment Promotion on Digital Economy” on November 3rd 2020. This event aims to introduce the development of Indonesian digital economy which offers plenty of opportunities to strengthen investment cooperation between Indonesia and Thailand during the Covid-19 recovery process, which also covers the enhancement of business relations between Indonesia and Thailand’s startup companies.

How the digital divide is impeding development

The level of integration into the digital economy matters more and more as it can significantly affect countries’ economic growth and human development. Due to connectivity and access gap, however, new forms of inequality are emerging; countries with better connectivity are enjoying better access to digital services and opportunities and the rest are left behind.

The year 2016 marks the beginning of a journey towards the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Developments Goals (SDGs). Information and communications technology (ICT) has a critical role to play towards the achievement of the SDGs, particularly SDG8 (decent work and economic growth), SDG9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure) and SDG17 (partnerships for the goals), among others.
